The Chair in Geopolitics of Risk and the Department of Philosophy of the Ecole normale supérieure (PSL) invite proposals for a doctoral fellowship in the Political Philosophy of AI

Framework, application and selection

The doctoral project will be conducted in the framework of PR[AI]RIE-PSAI (Paris Insitute for AI — Paris School of AI) under the direction of Prof. J. Peter Burgess, Ecole normale supérieure (ENS). The doctoral fellow will be fully integrated into the research team of the Chaire Géopolitique du Risque (geopolitics-of-risk.fr) and the doctoral studies will be carried out at the Doctoral School of the ENS. Applications should include: 

- A CV 

- A letter of motivation describing: 

     - the candidate’s proposed thesis project in relation to the research framework outlined below 

     - the candidate’s relevance and suitability for the research framework 

- A copy of the candidate’s most recent academic diplomas Applications may be submitted in French or English.

 

Selection criteria

Candidates will be assessed on the basis of the originality and scholarly excellence of the research proposal, and on the qualities of the candidate.

 

Selection process

The selection will take place in two stages. 

The first stage will be organised at the level of the research unit Chaire Géopolitique du Risque and the prospective thesis director 

The second stage will be conducted in coordination with the PR[AI]RIE - PSAI research programme Results of the first stage will be announced on 30 May 2025; results of the second stage will be released on 15 June 2025.
